Gossip during IDF continues that Nvidia is going to their deep dark development labs in an attempt to build their own x86 processor. Despite all denials that have been made thus far, the whispers continue.
Jen-Hsun Huang has continued to tell anyone that will listen that they are not secretly or otherwise working on the development of an x86 processor and the company will continue to focus its energy primarily at building the best-in-class GPU products.
The Nvidia purchase of Stexar led by former Intel engineers to create this new startup that has since been purchased by Nvidia continues to be the reason for much of the speculation.
However, The problem continues to be, that the company does not have an x86 license and should they launch something like an x86 processor, both Intel and AMD could be more than a little unhappy.
If the whispering in our heads would stop for a second, we would suggest to you that Nvidia would be somewhat overly aggressive if they would launch an x86 chip. Still, plenty insist that Nvidia will make a major announcement next week that is not GPU related, and if this is the case we will just have to wait and see.
