ปัญหาความร้อน E8XXX

I e-mailed Intel abut the sensor problems
Heres what intel said about senors problems, talk about a load.

First,
My e-mail, by the way I did copy and paste some info from this thread to get things started.

the temp probs in the E8400 are stuffed. The Coolest (the guy who
makes coretemp) reports that according to Intels spec, his program is
reading the temps correctly. In other words, coretemp is reading what
the cpu is telling it. Case and point, my E8400. According to
coretemp, one core is locked at 43c, the other at 51c. They will not
read any lower than this, ever... Once the temp moves above these
values its starts to rise, but other report completely frozen probs
(sometimes just reading 7c!). My motherboard reports 34c on the cpu
all the time, i have never seen it move off this value (this may be
fixed in future bios though). Nevertheless, there seems to be
problems with the sensors being reported on many websites, can you
confirm this and when will the recall take place?

Intels response,

The maximum operating temperature of the Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo
processor E8400 is 61.4 degrees Celsius. As long as the processor is
operating under this temperature it is operating within
specifications. We recommend setting any thermal alarms about three
(3) degrees below the maximum recommended temperature for the
processor. We do not have a normal operating temperature for the
processor as this temperature will vary depending on the chassis and
other hardware installed on the system as well as the actual load the
software is placing on the processor.

You do not need to worry about the temperature of each core, you only
need to pay attention to the CPU temperature itself.

Currently we do not have any report on sensor problems with the
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor E8400.

****UPDATE*****

That idiot at intel gave the wrong information on the E8400, the true CPU TEMP MAX IS 72.4c and the Tjunction core values remain 105c.

เอานะผมก็แปลๆเอาตามที่แปลได้ ไม่รู้แปลผิดแปลถูก

แต่ประมาณว่า Cencor ยังมีปัญหา คิดว่าน่าจะเป้นที่ bios หรือ mainboard มันเจอกับ CPU รุ่นลูกรุ่นหลานแล้วตามเทรน เด็กวัยรุ่นไม่ทัน ประมาณนั้น

อุณภูมิเลยออกมาสู้งสูงเกินจริง

เรื่องของเรื่องมันก็คงเป็นกะไบออสนั้นแหละ
แต่ละแบร์นรีบส่งไบออสออกมารับ 45nm กะว่าเวิคแล้วว่างั้นเถอะ แต่ก็ยังพอมีปัญหาอยู่บ้าง เลยเป็นซะ....

ลองไปหาอ่านในเนทดู เห็นฝรั่งบอกเป็นกันหลายคน บางคนบอกทะลุไป 100 กว่าทำเครื่องดับเลย พอเอาออกมาดูก็ไม่ร้อนเท่าใหร่ เขาเลยเดากันว่า BIOS มันยังอ่านอุ่นภูมิไม่ถูกครับ

ลองหาใน Google --> E8400 Temperature มาบานเลย

อุณภูมิห้อง ประมาณ 30-32 กว่า ๆ

ตอน รัน Orthos 20 นาทีขึ้นไป 66-70

แต่พอปิด Orthos 30 วิ ก็กลับมาที่ 49-50

ตอน รัน Orthos 20 นาทีขึ้นไป 65-68

แต่พอปิด Orthos 30 วิ ก็กลับมาที่ 44-45

Overclock ไม่เพิ่มไฟ ที่ 3.33 GHz

เอาออกมาทา ซิลิโคนใหม่แล้วโดยใช้ MX2 ก็เท่าเดิมลดลง 1 เอง

เห็นกระทู้นี้แล้ว ต้องพิจารณาอีกทีว่าจะซื้อ E8400 หรือเปล่า Sink CPU เดิม ๆ E6550 ก็เย็นกว่าเป็น 10 องศาเลยครับ นี่นับตอน Idle นะครับ ของผม Idle แต่ 30 เอง Fulload ก็ ไม่เกิน 45 แต่เปลี่ยน Sink อุณภูมิ Fulload 35 ก็ลุ้นยากครับ อย่างมาก ก็ 33 เอง

เหอๆ น่าสนุก อีก ไม่กี่วันจะได้ E8400 มาแล้ว ลองซะหน่อย

ขอแปลให้คร่าวๆนะครับ เพราะว่า น่าสนใจ

ประมาณว่า เค้าสงสัยว่า ค่า temp ของ E8400 ที่อ่านมาได้จาก program ต่างๆ มันแปลกๆ เช่น

• โปรแกรม Coretemp* อ่าน temp แต่ละ Core ได้ไม่เท่ากันและแตกต่างกันมากไป และค่าต่ำสุดที่มันอ่านได้ก็ค่อนข้างสูง คือ 43c กับ 51c
• โปรแกรมอื่นบางตัวอ่านมั่วไปเลย กลายเป็นว่าเย็นมากๆ เช่น แค่ 7c
• ตัวเมนบอร์ดเอง(น่าจะหมายถึง bios) อ่านได้ที่ 34c ตลอดเวลา

*พวก C2D มันจะมี temp sensor อยู่ในตัว CPU เลย ซึ่งค่าที่มันอ่านได้จะเก็บไว้ใน register พิเศษใน CPU เอง
และ Coretemp มันเป็น program ที่แค่ไปอ่านค่าจาก register พิเศษนี้ แล้วมาแสดงเท่านั้นเอง


แล้วปัญหาเกี่ยวกับค่า temp แปลกๆเนี่ย มันมีคนพูดถึงกันเยอะใน website ต่างๆ
(ของ OCZ เอง ก็เห็นมีบางคนถามทำนองนี้เหมือนกัน แสดงว่า เราก็ in trend ไม่เบา)


แต่สิ่งที่น่าสนใจกว่า ผมว่า เป็นสิ่งที่ Intel ตอบกลับมา ประมาณว่า

• ตาม spec ค่า Max Temp สูงสุดของ E8400 ที่จะทำงานได้อย่างไม่มีปัญหา คือ 61.4c*
• ค่า Temp จะเป็นไงก็ช่าง แต่ถ้ามันวิ่งไปมาไม่เกิน ค่า Max Temp ก็ถือว่าอยู่ใน spec
• แนะนำให้ set เตือน ถ้า temp ของ CPU อยู่ที่ max temp - 3
• Intel ไม่มี spec ที่จะบอกว่า temp ของการทำงานตามปกติ ควรจะอยู่ที่เท่าไหร่ เพราะมันขึ้นอยู่กับแต่ละเครื่อง และ load ของ CPU ตอนนั้นๆ
• ไม่ต้องสนใจค่า Temp ของแต่ละ core ดู แค่ Temp ของ CPU ก็พอ

*ตอนหลังคนถามเค้าบอกว่า ไอ้คนตอบเนี่ยมั่ว เพราะว่า ตาม spec จริงๆ เนี่ย ค่า max temp ของ E8400 อยู่ที่ 72.4c

แล้ว คนตอบก็สรุปว่า ณ ตอนนี้ ทาง Intel ยังไม่เคยได้รับรายงานอะไรที่เกียวกับปัญหาผิดปกติของ Temp Sensor ของ E8400

เข้าใจผิดอีกแล้วครับ

ผมว่ามันชัดเจนจากที่ผมแปลคร่าวๆให้ฟังนะครับว่า Bios มันอ่านค่าผิด

ซึ่งแปลว่าจริงๆมันไม่ได้ร้อนเลยแม้แต่น้อย เพียงแต่การอ่านค่ามันผิดครับ

ตอนนี้ speed fan 4.43 ยังอ่านค่า core temp e8400 ไม่ได้เลยครับ มันไม่รู้จัก sensor
ถ้าใส่ e2xxx e6xxx มันเจอเลยว่า sensor ชื่อ intel core
ตอนนี้ที่เชื่อได้คงเป็น temp ที่มาจาก sensor บนบอร์ด ถ้าดูใน bios น่าจะเป็น
ambient cpu temp หรือ cpu temp
core temp ใน bios ยังเชื่อถือไม่ได้
