Las Vegas (NV, booth #35352) - Nvidia announced the immediate availability of the GeForce GTX 295 for $499. The GeForce GTX 285 will be available on January 15, 2009, and comes with a $399 suggested MSRP. They deliver best-in-class performance, exceeding Radeon HD 4870 X2 by nearly 20% in some benchmarks, previous Nvidia products by 50%.
The GeForce GTX 295 features two 55nm GT200B GPUs in a single-card, dual-slot configuration. It has 480 cores, 56 ROP Units, a core clock of 576 MHz, a shader clock of 1242 MHz, a texture filtering rate of 92.2 GigaTextels/s, a memory clock of 1998 MHz, with 1,792 MB GDDR3 with 448-bit per GPU memory bandwidth interface, which equates to 223.8 GB/s. Maximum supported resolution is 2560 x 1600 digital, 2048 x 1536 analog. It has dual-link DVI-i, and one HDMI output.
Retail cards are selling today from EVGA and Asus. The GeForce GTX 295 performance shows 52% improvement over GTX 280, and 18% improvement oer Radeon HD 4870 X2 in 3DMark Vantage 1920 x 1200 (4X AA/ 16X Ansiso). Unreal Tournament 3 v1.3 HQ shows 136.21 fps, with GTX 280 showing 122.58 and Radeon HD 4870 X2 showing 129.81.
Observed total system power for GTX 295 is 420 watts, with GTX 280 being 346 watts. Radeon HD 4870 X2 shows 459 watts.
