Today Nvidia has introduced the GeForce GTX 480M GPU for notebooks which they are hailing as the world’s fastest notebook GPU. This will introduce DirectX 11 as well as tessellation to Nvidia powered notebooks creating a possible 5x more performance than any notebook GPU to date.
This also brings the Fermi architecture to notebook GPUs, which Nvidia has released gives 3x more CUDA cores over previous generations for super-fast video transcoding, high definition playback, and real time movie cleanup.
For the gamers, Nvidia promises the “world’s best gaming frame rates” and includes NVIDIA 3D vision technology, PhysX technology, and Nvidia Verde Drivers for the most up to date driver and gaming performance on the notebook platform.
Nvidia has said they are partnering with Clevis to introduce the first GTX 480M based system, but do not initially release a launch date or pricing at this time. Check us out for more information as it comes available.
