In
the previous review we had shown you the performance of IBM IC35L0180AVV207-1

We
used our old one, IBM IC35L040AVVN07-0 as primary to run Windows
and all benchmark programs (SiSoft Sandra 2003 and HD Tach ver2.61).
And gave IBM IC35L0180AVV207-1 with 8MB cache remains plain drive
with no any partitions. (To run HD Tach ver2.61, it requires plain
with no partitions)

We tried file system benchmark again with SiSoft Sandra 2003,
but this time, IBM IC35L040AVVN07-0 contains no file.
The graph of HD Tach program shows us the stability of reading
and writing. Notice the percentage of CPU usage (CPU utilization),
it’s only 2.8%, quite satisfied.

We tested again by using Promise ultra 100 TX-2 ATA controller
instead of using Intel’s ATA controller which is integrated on
board. As you see, we obtain much more speed, much more stability,
but the usage of CPU is also increased to 6.3%.
The
185.2 GB and 8 MB cache of this IBM’s harddisk delivers us the
high storage and satisfied transferring speed. It would be suitable
in video and editting works, which requires both storage and speed.
However the 15,000 Bath (US$350) price tag is also comparable
high for home users, but now OverclockZone had used this IBM harddisk
to be our standard reference testbed already.
